Embrace flexibility: the key to thrive in your career
Embracing Flexibility: The Key to Thriving in Your Career. “To grow beyond your present state, you need to grow in knowledge; because in actual sense, you can’t tower above your level of knowledge.” hashtag#PheekWords To thrive in today’s ever-evolving workplace, being open to flexibility is essential for career growth. The nature of work is shifting constantly due to advancements in technology, changing market demands, and unexpected global events. Professionals who remain adaptable are more likely to seize new opportunities, navigate disruptions, and increase their value within organizations. Flexibility in your career can take many forms. It may mean embracing different roles within your organization, expanding your skill set to include new competencies, or even rethinking your career path entirely. For example, this amazing lady Lum Niba Ayinwi Ambe (I calll her Woman King) joined us last year as a HR professional but early this year, she took on the challenge to lead the team at the Learning Unit where we had a vacancy. Today, she has not only performed in that role, she has managed several transformation projects, earned several certifications and delivering training programs globally. She recently became a Project Management Institute hashtag#ATP Instructor. I love to see people grow and transform their lives and careers. Beyond skills, mental flexibility—the ability to stay open-minded, accept feedback, and adapt to new perspectives—is crucial for growth. When you’re open to change, you not only build resilience but also cultivate a reputation for being a proactive, versatile team member. Ultimately, flexibility isn’t just a survival skill in today’s fast-paced world; it’s a pathway to personal growth, fulfillment, and long-term career success. Thank you Lum for all you do for our brand iCentra. We recognize and celebrate your iCentricity! TAB hashtag#HumansOfTeam hashtag#Transformation hashtag#Growth
Honoured and Humbled: A night of surpise and Gratitude
Honored & Humbled: A Night of Surprises and Gratitude. Arriving back in Nigeria to celebrate iCentra’s 15th anniversary, I had no idea I was set up for one of the most profound surprises of my life—a surprise dinner to honor me and celebrate the Project Management Institute Person of the Year Award. The event took place on Tuesday, October 22nd, at the Yar’Adua Center, organized by dear friends, family, colleagues, and so many incredible people from across my journey. It was overwhelming and deeply humbling to be surrounded by those who have been such an essential part of my life: family, friends, mentors, PMI Nigeria Chapter members, clients, my iCentra colleagues past and present, board members, LeadPreneur family, and other communities who have shared in the vision and milestones along the way. Some even traveled from all parts of Nigeria to be there. What touched me the most was realizing that every detail of this celebration was organized behind my back, with each person contributing their money, time, ideas, and love to make it happen. The highlight of the night was a moving documentary about my journey—an honest, sometimes surprising reflection featuring people from every chapter of my life and career. Seeing myself through their eyes, with all the different perspectives they shared, left me at a loss for words. Thank you to everyone who came together to create this moment and to everyone who has been part of this journey. It truly takes a village to raise a child: I am community-made. I am humbled, grateful, and more motivated than ever to continue on this path of transformation and impact. TAB hashtag#PMI hashtag#PersonOfTheYear hashtag#Gratitude hashtag#Transformation

Your past is manifesting today and today is determining your tomorrow
Your past is manifesting today, and today is determining your tomorrow. “Somewhere in your past lies the reason for your present, and your actions or inactions today will determine your tomorrow.” hashtag#PheekWords We are the architects of our tomorrow. How we live today prophesies what will manifest in our tomorrow. What you do or don’t do today is orchestrating the realities of your tomorrow. So, check how you live every day. “If you fall, do not fail to rise quickly and use the lessons learned as solutions to other problems – yours and for other people.”
“If you fall, do not fail to rise quickly and use the lessons learned as solutions to other problems – yours and for other people.” Those who continuously try new things often fail and learn on-the-go. When you fail at a venture, you learn what works and what doesn’t, especially after you eventually succeed. This equips you with the requisite knowledge to guide other people coming after you. This is why it is important to position ourselves to mentor other people on their journeys, based on our own experiences. Never hoard the lessons from your past experiences with life. Also, as you grow, you will always need to be guided by other people who have gone ahead of you. Seek out such people, connect with them and hold their counsel dear. They will help you to minimize your failures and to reach success faster. Beware of people who haven’t succeeded at anything. They are time wasters, and many times, their counsel holds no weight. Be wise. TAB hashtag#WednesdayWisdom hashtag#Transformation hashtag#UNLOCK
Feedback is Essential for Growth
Feedback is Essential for Growth! Growing up, I had my own insecurities and chief amongst them is interacting with people, I disliked anything that made me stand in front of people to talk. So, I took to arts (loved music, rap music, R&B and of course Fuji). Machines and gadgets were my own form of escapism. Anything but people, I’m fine (LOL) but my outward appearance says something different. Yes, that’s my facade, the front. We all have one. 24 years ago when I started my career as a Telecoms Engineer, all I wanted to do was to solve network problems, deliver projects with less interaction with people. But little did I know that God had a different plan for me. The type that would take me out of my comfort zones, one that would make me do exactly opposite of what I like. From Telecoms Engineering, I evolved into IT, Project Management, ended up in Management & Tech Consulting, transforming organisations and developing people. All through this transition, one thing became clear to me; “that the success I desire is on the other side of my comfort zone”. Managing stakeholders and relating well with people is key to success. So, everytime I show up to speak at conferences, facilitate executive sessions, or appear on TV for interviews and it seems natural, it is not, I’m actually facing my demons, turning my weakness into a strength. Growth comes with pain, far far away from comfort zones. Examine your Johari Window, there are four quadrants: 1. What you know and everyone knows (obvious to everyone)2. What only you know and others don’t know (your facade, secret place)3. What you don’t know but only other know and can see (you need feedback here to get better)4. What you don’t know and others don’t know (this is where you need to UNLOCK, self discovery) Recently, when the Norwegian Embassy invited me to share insights with them on “Organizational Culture: Giving and Receiving Feedbacks” I simply deployed the Johari Window tool and the Winning Life model in my book – UNLOCK as part of the very interactive session to help the participants. Excellence is an attractive and enticing force. It makes you likeable and respectable.
#Excellence Excellence is an attractive and enticing force. It makes you likeable and respectable. People are, by default, drawn to excellence wherever and whenever we see it. We love to associate with excellence, and excellent people – all of us. Be excellent in everything, from how you dress to how you speak, comport yourself, deliver on tasks, provide solutions, etc. People are watching you – consciously or unconsciously – and are rating you for when opportunities show up. Your degree of commitment to excellence will determine whether they invite you to be part of new opportunities or ignore you. “Struggle not for positions, but strive for excellence; because in the end excellence will position you.” Seek excellence, and it will bring you into many positions – not otherwise.
